Dragon Souls are the souls of Dragons in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. They are used to unlock Dragon Shouts once acquired from Dragon Walls. Though the player can learn the shout without the Soul, one must acquire Souls to upgrade and then unlock said Shouts. Depending on the level and upgrade, Shouts require different amounts of Souls to unlock. There are, however, exceptions to this, such as meeting the Greybeards where, rather than giving you a Dragon Soul, share their understanding of the words 'Ro' and 'Dah' that make up the last two words of the shout Unrelenting Force, as well as teaching you the first word for Whirlwind Sprint.
To obtain Dragon Souls, the Dragonborn must kill a Dragon. The Dragonborn will immediately absorb the soul after the death of the Dragon.
